Network Topology Mapper Encountered an unexpected error and needs to close

Overview

After a completed scan, NTM is expected to process data and generate the map. Instead, the application is crashing and is showing the following error:

Environment

  • NTM 2.2.1
  • NTM 2.2.2

Cause 

One of default icon files - NTM__Generic_Nodes_WMI.svg is deformed/malformed and requires replacement.

Resolution

  1. Download and replace the NTM__Generic_Nodes_WMI.svg file to the following location: C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Network Topology Mapper\Icons\.
  2. Make sure the the new file has the Read Only attribute.
  3. Run the application and generate the map.
