Issue

The default number of characters for node names results in truncated names in maps, which is confusing.

Resolution

Adjust the number of characters available for node names with the 'NTMMapNodeNameLength' parameter in the NTM client config file.

To adjust the number of characters:

  1. Open SolarWinds.NTM.Client.exe.config (Program Files\SolarWinds\Network Topology Mapper).
  2. Set the desired value of the NTMMapNodeNameLength parameter. (Default = 22)
  3. Save changes and close the file.
  4. Restart NTM and test the new value.
