Write to Windows Event Log SNMP trap action is not working

Updated November 7, 2016

Overview

The Write to Windows Event Log SNMP trap action is not writing to the event log.

Environment

All NPM versions in a multi-polling engine environment

Cause

The action is writing directly to the polling engine that the traps are being sent to.

Resolution

  1. Check that the node is sending the traps to the poller it is assigned to.
  2. Identify the Windows events that are being written.
  3. If you prefer, use the action to write to a remote polling engine.
