Website exception when adding a limitation to an account

Overview

When trying to add an account limitation to an account, you unexpectedly get a website exception:

 

Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
ErrorSite: App_Web.Orion_Admin_EditLimitation.OnInit
ErrorType: System.NullReferenceException

Environment

All versions of NPM prior to NPM 12

Cause 

The account in question has a # in the account name and this is not encoded so cannot be parsed through the URL.

Resolution

  • Do not use accounts with the # in the name.
  • Upgrade to NPM 12 as this supports encoding of this special character.
