WMI polling not returning CPU on Server 2003

Overview

WMI polling is working on most servers except for some of the Windows 2003 servers. In the Dataprocessor_core.cpuMemory.wmi logs, the following message is seen:

Error 'Invalid Class'

Environment

NPM 11.5

Cause

NPM uses a number of queries to obtain this data. On some older servers, if the CPU data is not returned on the first WMI query, then NPM does not step to the next Query.

Resolution

Upgrade to NPM 11.5.3 or later.
