Overview

This article describes how to generate a report that will display WAN interfaces for Bandwidth utilization for Business days.  

Environment

All NPM versions

Steps

Create a Custom Property – Interface Type

  1. Access Orion Web Console > Settings > Node and Group Management > Manage Custom Property.
  2. Click Add Custom Property > Object type: Interface > click Next.
  3. Put the name of the Custom Property >tThen Format: YES/NO.
  4. Set the value to YES on the “Assign Value for “name of the custom property” > click Select Interfaces.
  5. Put all the WAN interfaces you want to report and click Select interfaces > Click Submit.

 

Create the report:

  1. Remote access your Orion server.
  2. Go Start > All programs > Alerting reporting and mapping > Orion Report Writer.
  3. Once open, click Create a New Report > select Historical Interface Traffic > click OK.
  4. Under the General tab, put the name of the report and other details > leave everything by default (other settings).
  5. Select Field > click the small square box with 3 dots (…) > click Add New Field (put 12 lines of it):
    Click the first * and select Network Nodes > Node Details > Vendor
    2nd line > * > Network Nodes >> Node Details > Node Name
    3rd line > * > Interface > Interface Details > Interface Type
    4th line > * > Interface > Interface Details > Interface Name
    5th line > * > Historical Interface Traffic  > Transmitted Data > Minimum Transmit bps
    6th line > * > Historical Interface Traffic  > Transmitted Data > Peak Transmit bps
    7th line > * > Historical Interface Traffic  > Transmitted Data > Average Transmit bps
    8th line > * > Historical Interface Traffic  > Transmitted Data > Xmit Percent Utilization
    9th line > * > Historical Interface Traffic  > Received Data > Minimum Received bps
    10th line > * > Historical Interface Traffic  > Received Data > Peak Received bps
    11th line > * > Historical Interface Traffic  > Received Data > Average Received bps
    12th line > * > Historical Interface Traffic  > Received Data > Recv Percent Utilization
  6. Go to the Filter tab, click the small square box with 3 dots (…) click Add 5 New Elementary condition:
    1st line > * > Interfaces > Custom Properties > Name of the Custom Property you have selected then is equal to (put) Yes
    2nd line > * >> Day of Week > is not equal > to Saturday
    3rd line > * >> Day of Week > is not equal > to Sunday
    4th line > Time of day (24hour format) > is greater than or equal to > 07:00
    5th line > Time of day (24 hour format) > is less than or equal to > 19:00
  7. Leave Top XX at Show all records.
  8. Time Frame > Name Time Frame – put it on Last Month.
  9. Click Preview.
  10. Once all are ok, click File on the top Tool bar > File then SAVE AS.
    Save it to the default location > then click Save.
  11. Check this information > log in to Orion web console > Home > Summary > Reports sub tab.
  12. Search the name of the report > click to view.
