Virtual resource errors on Node Details page

Updated August 30, 2016

Overview

In the Node Details page of NPM or SAM, an error related to resources not loading. The errors may vary depending on the resource. The error shows on resources directly related to virtual objects.

Environment

All NPM and SAM versions with Virtual Machine Management (IVIM)

Cause

The IVIM module has been uninstalled and the Configuration Wizard been run leaving selected page resources that do not have paths to virtual data in the database.

The software version at the bottom of the Orion Web Console confirms if this IVIM is not listed with its version. The Virtualization tab will also not show.

Resolution

  1. On the Orion server, go to C:\program data (hidden)\solarwinds\installers.
  2. Find SolarWinds Integrated Virtual Infrastructure Monitor.msi and run it.
  3. After it runs, if reboot is requested, do so.
  4. After the reboot, or if none is required, configuration wizard should run.  Use the defaults already in it and let it finish, and the virtual components should load on the next log in.
