Overview

There are two utilities that can help in determining the resulting OID's and what they mean for devices that you are monitoring in your SolarWinds environment:

  • NPM MIB Browser
  • IPMonitor's Global OID Tree (Site no longer Maintained)

Environment

  • All versions of NPM (for the NPM MIB browser)
  • Internet browser (for the IPMonitor Global OID tree)

Detail

  1. Open NPM Web Console.
  2. Navigate to a node detail page in question and click MIB Browser under Management resource on the node or you can use the following URL to navigate the OID Tree: http://support.ipmonitor.com/mibs_byoidtree.aspx

Once you have loaded this up, you can use the search function to find/reference the what metric a particular OID relates to.

The MIB Browser in NPM will also tell you if the device in question is compatible with that OID.

If your OID/Device is not present in the SNMPwalk, that may be a sign that either your device is not reporting metrics to the SNMP Daemon, or the SNMP Daemon is not configured properly.
