Overview

The upgrade to NPM 12.2 and IPAM 4.5.2 fails in the Configuration wizard, with the following exception:

Exception configuring plugin Orion Core Services - Format of the initialization does not conform to specification starting at index 258.

Environment

  • Upgrading NPM  from version 12.1 to 12.2
  • Upgrading IPAM from version 4.5.1 to 4.5.2

Cause

The exception is  caused by special characters in the SQL user password, for example JH"B#!"(&DGGhguhgds7¤/&#DFHG!jhgvhgfc&¤%(&frv.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, run the Configuration wizard, and use an SQL account without special characters.

The Configuration wizard completes without issues, and the upgrade is successful.
