Issue:

The following error occurs when trying to monitor the performance of data processor in NPM.

SolarWinds.Collector.Repository.ConfigRepository - System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException (0x80004005): The CRT binary present in application/bin folder is not signed and can be a potential security risk. Please place the original Microsoft CRT binary in application/bin folder.

When communicating with the Orion server these errors also appear in the windows application event log.

  • .NET runtime eventID: 1026
  • Application Error: Faulting application name: SyslogService.exe, version: 2013.2.3.684 Event ID: 1000

This error could occur if the data processor or polling collector is unstable.

Resolution :

  1. Stop the Orion Services - Starting or Stopping Orion Services.
  2. Click Start > Run > Command prompt > Type regedit.
  3. Before doing any work on your registry please make sure that you have a current backup, as this will make permanent changes to your registry - How to Backup the Registry.
  4. Go to the registry location. 

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust Providers\Software Publishing 

     

  5. Click State > Modify > Add the Hexadecimal > Value data > 23c00.
  6. Go to the registry location.  

    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust Providers\Software Publishing

    Note: Use the Local System Account, the default account for services to start.

  7. Click State > Modify > Add the Hexadecimal > Value data > 23c00.
  8. If the service is not started by Local System Account. Then, repeat the process (Steps 6 and 7) for all the user folders listed under HKEY_USERS.
  9. Start the Orion Services.
