Unexpected website error is displayed when editing virtualization thresholds

Overview

An unexpected website error is displayed when editing virtualization thresholds.

Environment

NPM 12.0.1

Cause 

This occurs when the DLL file is corrupted or in the VIM folder.

Resolution

  1. Stop all Orion services.
  2. Back up the following DLL file to a separate location and delete it from the original location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\VIM\SolarWinds.Common.dll
  3. Start all Orion services.
  4. Edit the virtualization thresholds and verify that no errors are displayed.

 

If the issue persists, perform the following:

  1. Stop all Orion services.
  2. Back up the following DLL file to a separate location and delete it from the original location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\VIM\SolarWinds.Common.dll
  3. Copy the C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SolarWinds.Common.dll file to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\VIM
  4. Start all Orion services.
  5. Edit the virtualization thresholds and verify that no errors are displayed.
