Updated September 11, 2017

Overview

This article addresses the following error that appears on the Orion Web Console:

Unexpected Website Error: Value cannot be null parameter name: format

Environment

All Orion Core versions

Cause

This can occur when the temporary ASP.net files are corrupted. Corruption may occur due to files modification by operating system or other security measures (anti virus software) being in place.

Resolution

  1. Stop the World Wide Web Publishing service using Windows Services (services.msc).
  2. Go to the following locations and delete any folders under the folder of root (.NET cache):
    • C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\
    • C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\
  3. Delete everything under this directory if anything exists, leaving the folder root alone.
  4. Start the World Wide Web Publishing service using Windows Services (services.msc).
  5. Restart all SolarWinds services

Note:

On completion of above steps the Orion Web Console will be slow as the website is being rebuild.
