Unable to open advanced Alert Manager - Type Mismatch Error

Issue:

 After an upgrade in NPM, opening the Advanced Alert Manager throws an error:

Type Mismatch Error

Cause:

Advanced Alert Manager files getting unregistered is a known issue after an NPM upgrade. Also, this issue might occur if you used an account with lower privileges than the one used during the NPM installation on Orion server.

 

Resolution:

Open Advanced Alert Manager as an admin user, and follow Step 1 to 2. 

If the issue still exists, repair the core components, skip Steps 1 to 2 and proceed to Step 3. 

  1. Go to Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Alerting, Reporting and Mapping > Advanced Alert Manager.
  2. Right-click on Advanced Alert Manager and select Run As Administrator.
  3. Stop the SolarWinds Services. - How to Start Stop Orion Services
  4. Navigate to [Install Drive]:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion and remove the following files:
    AlertEngine.DBStructure
    AlertEngine.Template
    AlertingEngine.exe
    AlertingEngine.exe.config
    AlertingEngine.InstallState
    AlertManager.exe
    AlertManager.exe.config
    AlertManager.toolbars
    SolarWinds.Orion.Core.MessageActions.dll
    SWAlertActions8.dll
    SWAlertEngine8.dll

     

  5. Go to Start > Programs and Features > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
  6. Run a Repair on the SolarWinds Orion Core Services. - How to Repair Orion Core Services
  7. Run the Configuration Wizard to rebuild the files removed in Step 4.
  8. Open Advanced Alert Manager.
