Unable to change the polling engine in NPM 12.0

Overview

This article discusses how to resolve issue where the polling engine cannot be changed.

Environment

NPM 12.0

Resolution

  1. Export the SolarWinds-Orion certificate from the Personal folder.
  2. Import the certificate on the Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
  3. Click Start > Run.
  4. Enter MMC.
  5. When the MMC console loads, click File > Add/remove snap in.
  6. Select the certificate and add to the right-hand column.
  7. When the dialog displays, select the computer account and then select Local computer.
  8. Click Finish and then click OK.
  9. You should now see the certificate on the left side. Expand the certificate and then expand personal.
  10. Click certificates.
  11. Right-click the SolarWinds-Orion certificate and click All Task and Export.
  12. Click Next on the Import Wizard.
  13. Select Yes, export with private key.
  14. Select Password and then provide a password for this certificate.
  15. Click Next.
  16. Provide a name for the certificate and click Next.
  17. On the MMC console, right-click Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
  18. Click All Task > Import.
  19. On the wizard, open the file where you saved the certificate.
  20. Click Next.
  21. Enter the password and click Next.
  22. Finish the wizard.
  23. Restart IIS.
