Unable to add wireless heat map poller to Cisco WLC

Overview

This article describes an issue where a wireless heat map poller cannot be added to one of Cisco 5500 Series WLCs having the same firmware.

The wireless controller is displayed as X Not a match and cannot be assigned as shown in the following screenshot:

Environment

  • NPM 12.0.1
  • WLC 5500 firmware v8.2.100.0 (field recovery image version 7.6.95.16)

Cause 

This issue is caused by a missing OID - 1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.2.17.1. This OID is required by the wireless controller so that the wireless heat map poller can be assigned.

Resolution

Contact your vendor and advise that this device OID is required to resolve the issue.
