Overview

This article provides steps on how to turn off the Topology feature for Orion platform 2016 and later.

Environment

Orion platform 2016.1 and later

Steps

If you have access to the Orion Web Console:

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console.
  2. Access the Centralized Settings feature by adding the following to the URL:
    /Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx
    For example:
    http:/<server_name>:8787/Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx
  3. Locate the TopologyEnabled setting and clear the box (checked = True, un-checked = False).
  4. Click Save.
  5. Restart the services as instructed on the Orion Web Console by clicking RESTART ALL.

If you do not have access to Orion Web Console (i.e. broken due to topology):

  1. Open Database Manager.
  2. Right click your database, and select New query.
  3. In the query window, enter the following, and then Execute:
INSERT INTO Setting (Name, Value) VALUES ('SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.BusinessLayerSettings.TopologyEnabled', 'False')
Note: To copy content without line numbers, hover over the text and click the view source button (View Source). This opens a new window where you can select, and copy text without any formatting or line numbering.
  4. Restart Orion Module Engine using Orion Service Manager
