Truncate Traps and TrapVarbinds

Overview

If the database is filling up and you find out that Traps and TrapVarbinds is causing it, see the steps below to truncate Traps and TrapVarbinds.

Environment

  • NPM 11.5.2
  • NPM 11.5.3

Steps

  1. Stop the Orion Services:
    1. Go to Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager.
    2. File > Stop Everything.
    3. Ensure the database service is still running.
  2. Truncate the table Traps and TrapVarbinds:
    1. Go to Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Database Utilities > Database Manager.
    2. If you do not see your database, you will need to add it.
    3. Expand your database, right-click on the table Traps and TrapVarbinds.
    4. Clear the default SQL query and type the below one:
      truncate table TRAPS
      truncate table TRAPVARBINDS
    5. Click Refresh to execute it.
  3. Start the Orion Server with Orion Service Manager.
  4. Go to Start > Everything.
