Trend Micro antivirus causes communication issue with Solarwinds products

Overview

Older versions of the Trend Micro antivirus application are causing a communication issue with all SolarWinds products. When enabled with all exclusions in place, this will intermittently generate the following error when clicking on any part of the Web Console:

There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://orion/core/businesslayer 

Environment

All SolarWinds products

Cause 

Certain versions of Trend Micro do not respect the exclusions for SolarWinds directories. 

Resolution

Upgrade to the latest version of Trend Micro.
