Overview

The following error appears in the Orion Web Console:

There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://localhost:17777/SolarWinds/InformationService/Orion/ssl that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

Cause 

This is caused by any of the following reasons:

  • A custom property has the same name as a reserved property. 
  • Performance counters are corrupted.
  • The SolarWinds Information Service installation was incomplete.

Resolution

Custom Property name

Refer to the List of reserved words in custom property names.

Corrupted performance counters 

Submit a technical support ticket to SolarWinds and provide diagnostic details to determine if this is the case.

Incomplete installation of SWIS

Perform a manual reinstallation of the SolarWinds Information Service:

Windows Server 2008

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.
  2. Click SolarWinds Information Service, and then click Uninstall.
  3. Click Yes to confirm removal.
  4. Browse to Volume:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers\
  5. Execute InformationService.msi
  6. Click Next on the Welcome window of the SolarWinds Information Service Setup wizard.
  7. Accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.
  8. Click Typical, and then click Install to begin installation.
  9. Click Finish to complete the wizard.

Other Windows versions

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Click SolarWinds Information Service, and then click Remove.
  3. Click Yes to confirm removal.
  4. Browse to Volume:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\Installers\
  5. Execute InformationService.msi
  6. Click Next on the Welcome window of the SolarWinds Information Service Setup wizard.
  7. Accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.
  8. Click Typical, and then click Install to begin installation.
  9. Click Finish to complete the wizard.
