Overview

After running the Configuration Wizard, the following error shows up that prevents the Web Console to display:

Web Request for Orion/Login.aspx failed - The remove server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable

To help identify the issue, view the Windows Event Viewer.  Under Windows Logs and Application you can filter the source as IIS-W3SVC-WP.

Environment

All Orion versions

Resolution

Check Microsoft Event Manager that shows error and see the drive and folder location that need permission.  The path seen in the screen shot is a virtual directory from inetpub.  For this instance, the following permission was added to the SolarWinds inetpub folder, which by default is:  C:\inetpub\SolarWinds

Add (Full Control)

  • IUSR
  • Network Services
  • Authenticated user
