Overview

The following error message is received when you change a GPO with the SQL Powershell remote execution Policy located at HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PowerShell\1\ShellIds\Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.PowerShell.sqlps110\ExecutionPolicy from RemoteSigned to Unrestricted value.

 

The Socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your message or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network resource issue. Local socket timeout was 'XX:XX:XX.XXXXXX'.

 

Environment

  • All NPM versions

Cause 

This could be a problem with .NET. The TCP port Sharing service is not started before all Orion services. 

This could also be a problem where the following Microsoft Updates KB3102429 was installed.

Resolution

  1. Restart NET TCP port sharing service. Refer to the Microsoft Technet website on how to restart a Windows service http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc772408.aspx.
  2. Restart the Orion Services using the Orion Service Manager.
  3. If the following Microsoft Update KB3102429  is installed, uninstall and restart the Orion server.
