Webinar: Web Help Desk for HR, Facilities and Accounting Departments
This webinar will focus on use cases for HR, Facilities and Accounting.

Having a unified ticketing and asset management system for all the departments in your company can provide end-users with a seamless experience and make things easier for your IT team. Yet, with different business tasks and objectives, many departments don’t fully understand the capabilities of Web Help Desk and how the software can be customized for effective use in their departments.

This article tells you how to test a UNDP that you created and make sure that it is polling the data you want it to poll for a specific node. It also makes sure that the OID you are using is supported by the node.  If the OID is not supported, nothing will work that you want it to, so no data and no alerts from the node.

All NPM versions

  1. Open Universal Device Poller (Green Leaf icon) on the Orion Application server
  2. Select the Poller you want to test.
  3. Right click and select Assign.
  4. Change the drop down to Troubleshooting so that you can see all your nodes.
  5. Find the nodes that it is assigned to.
  6. Click the Test button on that window at the bottom.
  7. From the Above you can see that it worked and pulled in the value of 1.
This is what you do not want.
  8. If you get the above test result showing The OID is not supported,
    a. Do an SNMPwalk by going to C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Solarwinds\Orion\SNMPwalk.exe.
    b. Fill out the screen with the ip address and what SNMP version and the community string.
