The configuration wizard fails and returns the following error:

Store must be open for this operation.


All NPM versions


The error is caused by a corrupted file in the Windows temp directory.


  1. Go to C:\windows\temp.
  2. Select and delete all the files in the folder.
  3. Verify that the folder permissions are correct.
  4. Re-run the configuration wizard.
