Some data for network drives is not available to WMI polling

Issue:

Due to a limitation in WMI, the following data is not available for network drives, even though it is available for logical (hardware) disks:

  • Disk Queue Length [DiskQueueLength]
  • Average Disk Transfer [AvgDiskTransfer]
  • Disk Reads Count [DiskReads]
  • Disk Writes Count [DiskWrites]

Resolution:

No resolution to the WMI polling issue is currently available, but, if the network drives are mapped to physical disks, SolarWinds NPM may use WMI to monitor the physical (hardware) disks.

This article applies to SolarWinds NPM versions 10.4.1 and higher
