This article provides steps on how to troubleshoot when Orion SolarWinds server crashes regularly.

Environment

All versions NPM

Steps

Look for the following error and then do the procedure below:

 

Core.BusinessLayer.log

ERROR SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.CoreBusinessLayerPlugin - Error configuring Job Engine
System.ApplicationException: Could not reach JobScheduler service after 1 retries
   at SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.JobScheduler.ExecuteJobSchedulerOperation[T](String operationName, JobSchedulerOperation`1 operation, Boolean retryOnError)
   at SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.JobScheduler.ExecutionEngineExists(Uri executionEngineUri)
   at SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.CoreBusinessLayerPlugin.ConfigureJobEngine()

PollingController.log

ERROR SolarWinds.Collector.PollingController.JobSchedulerEventsService - Error removing job a7c62097-8f1c-4db1-828e-60f603858228.
System.TimeoutException: The request operation did not complete within the allotted timeout of 00:03:00. 1. Stop all Orion services.

2. Go to: C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Installers.

3. Uninstall and re-install the following (These 3 services are responsible for collecting data):

  • CollectorInstaller
  • JobEngine
  • JobEngine.v2

4. Start all Orion Services.

5. Restart IIS.

6. Run Configuration Wizard.
