Server Error "We are having difficulty communicating with the Orion Server" in SolarWinds NPM

Overview

This article shows you how to address the server error ribbon that appears on pages with incompatible resources that have been added to a view in SolarWinds NPM.

The server error is accompanied by a stack trace error:

Environment

  • NPM 12.2 

Steps

  1. Check for the stack trace error.
  2. Check the specific view by verifying it from the URL, in this case, it is the NetflowNodeDetails view.

  1. Open All Setting > Manage Views.
  2. Edit the specific view.
  3. Identify the resources that are not compatible with the node details view page. In this case, it's an ASA connection resource that was added.
  4. Remove the resource and click submit.
  5. Refresh the page and the error should be gone.
