Schedule a report

Overview

This article provides steps to create scheduled report jobs in Orion. 

 

Environment

NPM version 11.5.x

Steps

  1. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Orion Web Console.
  2. Click Manage Reports > Report Schedule Manager.
  3. Select New Schedule.
  4. Choose a Report or the URL of a Web Resource. See Create a Report from a Resource.

You have the option of choosing Multiple reports and URLs, but a very large file size can cause the report to fail. 

  1. ​Click Assign Report, and select your target Report > Assign Report(s).
  2. In Advanced settings, you have the option of applying Limitations to the report schedule. See Use report limitations.
  3. Click Next. On the next Tab we can apply a Frequency to our Report.
  4. Add Frequency and click Next.

 

 

5. On the next tab Actions to Execute, choose your action.

    You have the option to email, write to a folder on a share or print. See Save to Disk Function.

 

 

Example:

Email was selected. Give the Action a relevant Name, this can help in troubleshooting any issues with the schedule. To do this:

  1. Enter a name and a reply address on the Email From tab.
  2. On the SMTP Server tab, enter the hostname or IP address and confirm the port number of the server used to send email from the Orion server.
  3. If you want to create a printable report that excludes the Orion Web Console banner and menu bar, select Retrieve a Printable Version of this Page on the Orion Web Login tab.

 

Notes: 

  • You have the option of receiving your report in PDF, CSV, Excel or in the body of the email.
  • You cannot export Charts in CSV or Excel Format.
  • If you want to receive the Report in the Email Body then select HTML 
  • You can create a message using a combination of Text and variables. See Customise message.

 

Click on ADD action > Save email action > Next.

On the next page you are presented with a summary of the  Schedule Configuration. Review and click on Create schedule to finish.

 

You should now see Schedule Manager page, select Run Now to test the Report Schedule.

 

 

 

To print the report:

a. On the Actions to execute tab.

b. Select Print the Web Page, and then click Continue.

c. Select Printer, Orientation, and number of Copies you want to print.

d. Click Continue. 

e. Enter the user name and password for the Windows account that will email the report.

f. Click Continue > Add any additional comments or notes about this job, and then click Finish.
