SQL TempDB increases excessively in size after upgrade to NPM 12.0.1

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when there is an unusually high increase in disk usage of the TempDB in the SQL server which NPM utilizes.  

Environment

NPM version 12.0.1

Cause 

The issue is caused by Wireless Lazy Upgrade in the NPM Database.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install NPM 12.0.1 HotFix 1 on the Orion Server.

To obtain the HotFix:

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
  2. Go to License Management > Hot Fixes.
  3. Click Download next to Network Performance Monitor v12.0.1 - Hot Fix 1.
  4. Follow instructions included in the archive.
