Overview

This article explains the possibility to view traps for VLAN or topology polling.

Environment

All NPM versions

Detail

The following trap proceeds if you have VLANs shutdown but still show up in the vmmembership table. For example,

cExtSnmpTargetAuthInetAddr = "SolarWinds Poller IP ADDRESS"

cExtSnmpTargetAuthInetType = 1

authAddr = "SolarWinds Poller IP ADDRESS"

snmpTrapOID = SNMPv2-MIB:authenticationFailure

sysUpTime = 71 days 21 hours 25 minutes 50.85 second

SolarWinds normal Topology polling polls all Layer 2 VLAN information regardless if it is shutdown. Refer to this article.

The only current known workaround is to filter traps or shut off these failure traps from being sent from the device. Refer to the Thwack discussion https://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/251130#251130.
