Overview

SNMP V3 test fails when trying to get OID 1.3.6.1.6.3.15.1.1. This happens for multiple devices and manufacturers. This is also seen in WireShark and SNMP walk.

Environment

  • NPM 11.5.2
  • Several different devices and manufactures gave same OID

Cause

The encryption type for Orion and NPM does not support AES56.

Resolution

Force the device to use AES128, 192 or 256 to resolve the issue.

Note: For snmpwalk test, you will need 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1 - sysDescr & 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2 - sysObjectID.
