Overview

The Rx/Tx traffic on interfaces display different bandwidth values depending on where it is viewed.

Environment

All NPM versions

Cause

This is because in tooltip/popup (that is common component used on multiple places in NPM), the value is divided by 1000 when converted from bits to Kbits, but on resource it is divided by 1024.

Resolution

As a workaround, you can change the resource to also divide by 1000, so you see the same values as on the tooltip.

Warning:

  • Consult your System Administrator before performing the following procedure.
  • SolarWinds strongly recommends that you only edit the AllInterfacesTraffic.ascx.cs  file as instructed. Any additional modifications may result in system performance issues or may create an error state.
  • Save a copy of the original AllInterfacesTraffic.ascx.cs file to your local drive as a backup file, in case you need to roll back later.

  1. Go to \inetpub\SolarWinds\Orion\Interfaces\Resources\Summary and locate the file AllInterfacesTraffic.ascx.cs.
  2. Open the AllInterfacesTraffic.ascx.cs file in any text editor.
  3. In the following lines, change true to false
    r["FormatedInbps"] = show ? Utils.ConvertToMB(Utils.SafeToDouble(r["Inbps"]), "bps", true).Replace(" ", " ") : " ";
    r["FormatedOutbps"] = show ? Utils.ConvertToMB(Utils.SafeToDouble(r["Outbps"]), "bps", true).Replace(" ", " ") : " ";
  4. Save the file and refresh webpage.
