Run a repair on SolarWinds Orion Core Services

Repair the SolarWinds Orion Core Services if you encounter any of the following issues:

  • Missing Orion services
  • Orion is not functioning properly
  • Missing objects from the Web Console


Error Example:

When I click on "View Details", the page shows:

Unexpected Website Error
Unable to cast object of type 'System.DBNull' to type 'System.String'.


All Orion versions


  1. Log in to Orion NPM Server as a Windows Local Administrator.
  2. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  3. Right-click SolarWinds Orion Core Services, and select Repair.
    After the repair, the Configuration Wizard is launched.
  4. Complete the Configuration Wizard to complete the repair process.

The above issues are resolved.

** always make sure a backup of the environment (SQL & app) exists.
