Shutdown and restart Orion services

Overview

This article provides information on how to start, stop or restart Orion Services using Orion Service Manager.

Environment

  • All versions of Orion Platform products
  • Windows 2008 R2 and later

Steps

Manage SolarWinds services from the Orion Web Console

Starting with Orion Platform 2016.1 (Orion Platform products such as NPM 12.0, SAM 6.2, or IPAM 4.3), you can access the Orion Service Manager directly from the Orion Web Console, without actually logging in to your polling engine server.

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console using an account with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Settings > All Settings, and then click Orion Service Manager in the Product-specific settings.
  3. Select the server where the service is running.
  4. Select services to manage and use the buttons to start, restart, or stop the selected services.

    To manage websites or dependent services, such as Message queuing or Rabbit MQ, go to the Websites or Dependencies tab.

Manage SolarWinds services from the stand-alone Orion Service Manager

  1. Go to the Start menu > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion.
  2. Click Advanced Features.
  3. On some versions of Windows server, you will need to find Orion Service Manager manually.
  4. Open the Orion Service Manager.
  5. Click Shutdown Everything to stop all Orion services or Start Services to start the services.
