Overview

This article discusses what permissions are required on the folders that SolarWinds accesses. These permissions are required by SolarWinds in order for your software to work correctly.

 

Note: If you do not have sufficient permissions on the below folders you might have issues with the following:

  • Installing our software
  • Running our software
  • Gathering diagnostics for Technical Support

Environment

All Orion Core versions

Steps

Perform the following steps to these folders:

  • C:\InetPub\SolarWinds
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\ (or your Installation Directory for Solarwinds)
  • C:\Windows\TEMP
  • C:\ProgramData
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SolarWinds
  • C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files
  1. Locate and right-click the folder.
  2. Select Security and click Edit.
  3. Verify that Network Service is added and has Full control.
    • If the Network Service is added but is not set to Full control:
      1. Under Allow, click Full control.
      2. Click Apply and OK.
    • If Network Service is not added:
      1. Click Add.
      2. Type Network S and click Check Names.
      3. Select Network Service and click OK.
      4. Click Network Service.
      5. Under Allow, click Full control.
      6. Click Apply and OK.
