Reports incorrectly showing in the Web Console

Overview

Reports are showing incorrect data compared to the report writer.

Environment

Orion NPM version 10.0 and later

Cause

The difference between Report Writer and the Web Console is due to a web-only "Group historical data by days" setting provided in Orion NPM version 10. The "Group historical data by days" setting accounts for differences in summary used by Report Writer and the Web Console when displaying reports. Enabling this setting for reports that do not display differently in the Web Console and in the Report Writer may result in the incorrect data compare to report writer or "No activity to report" message in the web console.

Resolution

  1. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Alerting, Reporting, and Mapping > Report Writer.
  2. In the left pane, click a report that is displaying "No activity to report" in the Web Console.
  3. In Design Mode, on the General tab, clear Group historical data by days.
  4. Click Execute SQL Query to confirm that reported data is correct.
  5. View the corrected report in the Web Console to confirm that data is reported.
