Report from Orion Report Writer - Top 10 CPU load with Historical Data / Top 10 Packet Loss with Historical Data

Overview

This article describes how to display the Top 10 Nodes by Packet Loss and Top 10 Nodes by Average CPU.

Environment

All NPM versions

Steps

Top 10 Nodes by Packet Loss:

  1. Remote access SolarWinds server.
  2. Go to Start > Search > Orion Report Writer (right click > Run as Admin).
  3. Click Create New Report >> Select Historical – Response Time and Packet Loss.
  4. Under the General tab, put the name of the report and description. Deselect the “Group by historical data by days” – the rest leave it default.
  5. Select Field tab: Add 2 new fields
    1st field > * > Network Node > Node Details > Node Name
    2nd field > * > Historical Response time and Availability > Percent Loss
  6. Under the Filter tab, leave it blank to apply to all Nodes.
  7. Top XX – put it on “Show only the Top 10 Records”
  8. Time Frame – put it on the amount of time to look back – example last 7 days.
  9. Summarization Tab – Put “Do not Summarize the Results”
  10. Leave the rest of the tabs at default.
  11. Click Execute query to see the result.
  12. Once done and you are ok with the data, on the tool bar for the Report Writer > File > Save as.
  13. Save it on the default location where all reports are saved.
  14. Log back in to your Orion Web Console.
  15. Go to the page where you want this information to be displayed.
  16. Look on the upper right hand > Customize page (green button).
  17. Click the plus sign on the column you want to put it.
  18. Search for “Report from Orion Report Writer”.
  19. Select and Submit to save the page.
  20. It will redirect you to the same page > go to that resource you have added > Report from Orion Report Writer > EDIT.
  21. Change the title of the resource.
  22. Drop down and select the report you just created > Submit to save.
  23. It will now show the needed information.

 

Top 10 Nodes by Average CPU:

  1. Remote access SolarWinds server.
  2. Go to Start > Search > Orion Report Writer (right click > Run as Admin).
  3. Click Create New Report >> Select Historical CPU Load and Memory.
  4. Under the General tab – Put the Name of the report and description. Uncheck the “Group by historical data by days” – the rest leave it default.
  5. Select Field Tab: Add 2 new fields
    1st field > * > Network Node > Node Details > Node Name
    2nd field > * > Historical CPU Load > Average CPU Load
  6. Under the Filter tab, leave it blank to apply to all Nodes.
  7. Top XX – put it on “Show only the Top 10 Records”.
  8. Time Frame – put it on the amount of time to look back – example last 7 days.
