WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

This article provides detailed steps on recreating the Orion Web Console.

All Orion Platform versions (primary polling engine, additional web server)

  1. Stop all Orion Services using Orion Service Manager.
  2. Open IIS Manager:
    Start > Run > inetmgr
  3. In the left pane expand Sites and select SolarWinds website.
  4. Right click and choose Remove.
  5. In the left pane click Application Pools.
  6. In the center pane select SolarWinds Orion Application Pool and then click Remove.
  7. Open the File Explorer and navigate to the folder where IIS keeps websites. (C:\inetpub)
  8. Locate the SolarWinds folder and rename it (you could delete it but for safety SolarWinds recommends renaming it).
  9. Navigate to .Net Temporary Files folder:
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\
  10. Delete the content of the folder.
  11. Open the Configuration Wizard (make sure to execute the following command using Run As Administrator):
Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Configuration and Discovery > Configuration Wizard
  12. Select the Website option and then click Next.
  13. Continue to click Next, and then wait for the Configuration Wizard to finish. Do not skip the Website Optimization stage.
