Overview

The Polling Engine is down after migrating NPM 10.7 to new server. This article shows which logs to check for errors and how to address these errors.

Environment

NPM 10.7

Steps

  1. Check the following logs for errors:
    • Event Logs - Solarwinds:
Unhandled Exception caught in Core Service Engine startup. Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined.
    • Core.BusinessLayer Log:
FATAL SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.CoreBusinessLayerPlugin - Unhandled Exception caught in plugin startup.
System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined.
  2. Go to the ReportJobs table and replace the WebsiteID with the correct WebsiteID in WebSites table.
  3. Restart Orion Services using the Orion Service Manager.
  4. If this does not resolve the issue and Polling Engine is showing down, check Information Service version 3 log for the error below.
ERROR SolarWinds.InformationService.ChangeBroker.NotificationManager - Unhandled exception occured delivering notification. SubscriptionId: 783d47e2-ca39-4e23-ab4a-701859bb1324, Endpoint: net.tcp://<server>:17777/Orion/NPM/OperationSubscriber, IndicationType: System.InstanceDelete
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_SubscriptionPendingNotification". The conflict occurred in database "NetPerfMon", table "dbo.Subscriptions", column 'Id'.
  5. Clear the following tables:
    • Delete from pendingnotifications
    • Delete from subscriptiontags
    • Delete from subscriptions
  6. Restart Orion Services using the Orion Service Manager.
