Issue:

After upgrade to NPM 10.7, selected pollers are shown as Not a match when managing poller assignments.

Resolution

This issue occurs when pollers that were disabled in prior versions of NPM are not re-enabled before upgrading to NPM 10.7. These pollers are not scanned and their corresponding devices are not polled in NPM 10.7.

To resolve this issue:

  1. If you only need to enable pollers for a few devices, you can click List Resources in the Management resource on the device details view for the each device polled by a non-matching poller.
  2. If you need to enable multiple pollers or you need to enable polling for multiple devices, run the following queries, as required, against the SolarWinds database in SQL Server Management Studio:
    • To enable CPU, memory and topology polling:
        INSERT INTO dbo.[NodeSettings]
SELECT NodeID AS NodeID, 'Core.NeedsInventory' AS SettingName, 'Cpu:Memory:L2:L3' AS SettingValue
FROM dbo.[Nodes] WHERE ObjectSubType = 'SNMP'
    • To enable multicast polling:
INSERT INTO dbo.[NodeSettings] (NodeID, SettingName, SettingValue)
        SELECT n.NodeID, 'NeedsInventory', 'MulticastRouting'
        FROM Nodes n
WHERE n.ObjectSubType = 'SNMP' AND n.NodeID NOT IN (SELECT NodeID FROM dbo.[NodeSettings] WHERE SettingName = 'NeedsInventory' AND SettingValue = 'MulticastRouting')
    • To enable routing polling:
INSERT INTO dbo.[NodeSettings] (NodeID, SettingName, SettingValue)
        SELECT n.NodeID, 'NeedsInventory', 'Routing'
        FROM Nodes n
WHERE n.ObjectSubType = 'SNMP' AND n.NodeID NOT IN (SELECT NodeID FROM dbo.[NodeSettings] WHERE SettingName = 'NeedsInventory' AND SettingValue = 'Routing')

Nodes and pollers will update after a full background discovery is completed.
