Overview

This  article provides brief information and steps  to resolve the issue when the Node Device Type view is incorrectly assigned to Cisco 1200 series wireless controllers.

Cisco recently changed the Object ID (SysObjectOID) that NPM uses to determine the device type of Cisco 1200 series wireless devices. NPM has updated this OID for version 10.3.

For new NPM 10.3 users, Cisco 1200 series devices are correctly identified as wireless devices and assigned the appropriate Wireless Details view, by default, when these devices are initially discovered.

Environment

NPM version 10.3 or later

Resolution

For users that are upgrading to NPM 10.3, currently monitored Cisco 1200 series wireless devices are presented using the default Node Details view. To correct this, change the default device type view:

  1. Click Start >All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Orion Web Console.
  2. Log in to the Orion Web Console as a user with administrative privileges.
  3. Click Settings in the top right corner.
  4. Click Views by Device Type in the Views grouping.
  5. In the Object Type list, locate the Cisco 1200 device that is displaying incorrectly, and then select Wireless Autonomous AP, Wireless Controller or Wireless Thin AP, as appropriate.
  6. Click Submit.
