Netpath does not display all hops

Updated March 6, 2017

Netpath service does not display all the hops. It can show the source, destination and one intermediary node.

The following steps may not resolve all cases where there are missing intermediary nodes, but if your environment matches then it is worth editing the settings.

NPM version 12 or later

Known issue with virtualized NIC drivers in these environments VirtualBox, Xen and AWS.

  1. Open C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Orion\NetPath\NetPathAgent.cfg with a text editor as an administrator.
  2. Save a copy of original NetPathAgent.cfg file as a backup.
  3. Stop the SolarWinds Job Engine 2 service.
  4. Change the following settings in the NetPathAgent.cfg file:
    "EnableAdvancedBpf": false,
    "TracerouteTimeout": 500,
  5. Save the file.
  6. Start the SolarWinds Job Engine 2 service.
