When a virtual Cisco ASA device is installed on a VM, and you add the device to an Orion Platform product for monitoring, the device is displayed as a virtual machine in the Orion Web Console.

  • NPM

Orion monitors the ESX server or the VCentre  that is hosting the Virtual Machine (VM). When you view the device in the Orion Web Console,  you can see the Node and the ESX server that is hosting it.

This behavior is by design: the ASA is on a VM, and Orion Platform thus links the VM to the ESX server.

To break the link between the VM and the ESX server, stop monitoring the ESX server in your Orion Platform product.
