This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the following Configuration Wizard errors:

  • Failure importing old maps
  • Failure importing sample map

NPM version 9.5.1 or later

This issue is encountered when a domain account is used to create a new user for the Orion database. Domain accounts are not supported for use with the Orion database. The local SQL Server sa account is required to create new databases and database users.

  1. Close, and then restart the Configuration Wizard (Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Configuration and Auto-Discovery > Configuration Wizard).
  2. Check Database, and then click Next.
  3. Select the SQL Server hosting your Orion database, and then select Use SQL Server Authentication.
  4. Provide sa as your Login, and then provide the corresponding Password (if you do not know the password please contact your DBA), and then click Next.
  5. Select Create a new database, and then provide a name for your New Database, and then click Next.
  6. Select Create a new account, and then provide a name for your New Account.
  7. Provide and confirm an appropriate account Password, and then click Next.
  8. Click Next to start configuration of your Orion database.
  9. Click Finish to complete the Configuration Wizard.
