Fixed issues

This hotfix addresses the following issues:

SolarWinds Orion Platform 2017.1 Hotfix 2 issues

  • Volume monitoring stops.
  • The Node Reboot alert does not trigger.
  • SNMPv3 credentials are not correctly assigned to nodes.
  • SNMPv3 credentials can be deleted or incorrectly updated when mass editing nodes that use different polling methods.
  • Vulnerability on a weak cipher suite on the TLS channel for 64-bit ciphers (SWEET32).
  • Upgrade to NPM 12.1 with NTA 4.2.1 fails with the following error: No valid package combination was found for current system.
  •  PackageCleaner ignores MSP files.
  • ServiceNow integration stops working if you mass edit incidents.
  • Incidents in ServiceNow reactivate.
  • Unable to collect diagnostic ZIP files that exceed 4 GB.
  • Unable to enter a description and attach data in the diagnostics tool.
  • Network Atlas maps load slowly or do not load.
  • Manually added component monitors to existing application monitors do not appear in PerfStack.
  • WMI critical component monitor does not display in PerfStack.
  • Volume statistics on Linux machines polled by agents are missing.
  • Mitigates issue with syntax errors in system log on some Ubuntu agent machine.
  • SWIS memory leak from the QueryExecutionContextExtensions.Extensions cache.
  • Intermittent outages based on SWIS ExpandedLimitations indications flooding pub/sub.
  • Automatic monitoring settings are reset to the defaults after the Configuration Wizard runs.
  • Deadlocks and locking the OrionServers table.
  •  Every time an Agent is upgraded, it adds one more line to cron, that results in the server being overloaded.

SolarWinds NPM 12.1 Hotfix 1 issues

  • MSMQ grows constantly due to large F5 load.
  • Arithmetic overflow error in the NPM routing table due to a large amount of records.
  • Hardware health: Accounts with limitations are not able to edit any nodes.
  • Hardware health: Orion Web Console displays hierarchy views for sensors on devices without hierarchy.
  • Wireless: Meraki - incorrect TRANSMITTED/RECEIVED values in Active Wireless Clients and Wireless Client History resources.
  • NetPath: Service monitors page error when accessing NetPath.
  • NetPath: Graph generation error "Unable to access the requested graph".
  • NetPath: Store traceroutePollerResult failed with the error "Cannot insert duplicate key into object performance table".

Notes

  • This hotfix requires NPM 12.1 and Orion Platform 2017.1 Hotfix 2.
  • If Orion Platform 2017.1 Hotfix 2 is not already installed, this hotfix will install it.
  • This hotfix must be installed on the main polling engine, on any additional polling engines or web servers, and High Availability servers.

 

Installation with SolarWinds High Availability

Use these instructions to install the hotfix with SolarWinds HA.

The HA pool must be disabled to begin installation. If you install prior to disabling, the pool is automatically disabled.

  1. In the Orion Web Console, click Settings > All Settings > High Availability Deployment Summary.
  2. Select the pool you want to disable.
  3. Toggle High Availability to Off.
  4. Install the hotfix on the primary server in the pool.
  5. Install the hotfix on the secondary server in the pool.
  6. In the Orion Web Console, click Settings > All Settings > High Availability Deployment Summary.
  7. Select the pool you want to enable and toggle High Availability to On.

The Orion Web Console verifies all SolarWinds product versions match across the HA pair before enabling. If you receive errors, check your product versions.

Installation instructions

Download the hotfix from https://customerportal.solarwinds.com/HotFixes.

  1.  As an administrator, log in to the server hosting the SolarWinds NPM polling engine or SolarWinds NPM additional website.
  2. Extract the hotfix archive, run SolarWinds-NPM-v12.1-HF1.exe, and follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
  3. Complete the Configuration Wizard. 
    If the wizard does not launch automatically, start it in the SolarWinds Orion program folder (SolarWinds Orion > Configuration and Auto-Discovery > Configuration Wizard).

Users with limitations are now able to edit nodes they are allowed to access.

Uninstallation instructions

  1. As an administrator, log in to the server hosting the SolarWinds NPM polling engine or SolarWinds NPM additional web server.
  2. Run the Orion Service Manager, click Shutdown Everything, and close the Orion Service Manager.
  3. Navigate to Installed Updates, for example via Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates.
  4. Right-click Update for SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor v12.1 (HF1), select Uninstall, and complete the uninstallation.
  5. Right-click Update for SolarWinds Orion NetPath v1.1 (HF1), click Uninstall, and complete the uninstallation.
  6. Right-click "Update for SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2017.1 v117.1.5300 (B1787)", select Uninstall, and complete the uninstallation.

  7. 7. Right-click "Update for SolarWinds Orion Network Atlas v1.16.0 (B39)", select Uninstall, and complete the uninstallation.

  8. 8. Right-click "Update for SolarWinds Information Service v2017.1.1.430 (HotFix2)", select Uninstall, and complete the uninstallation.

  9. Complete the Configuration Wizard.
    If the wizard is not launched automatically, start it in the SolarWinds Orion program folder (SolarWinds Orion > Configuration and Auto-Discovery > Configuration Wizard).
