Fixed issues

This hotfix addresses the following issues:

  • Hardware health polling does not work for specific Cisco devices due to a problem with hierarchy. In the Collector log, you can find the following message:
"System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at SolarWinds.HardwareHealth.Collector.HardwareHealth.HardwareHealthHierarchyStage.<>c_DisplayClass1f"
  • Incorrect calculation of wireless AP identifiers that results in wireless APs duplication after the upgrade.
  • NetPath high latency measurement issues, typically at hop 1
  • NetPath probing exceptions caused by invalid packets

Environment

  • SolarWinds  NPM 12.0.

Notes

  • Install the hotfix on all polling engines affected by the issue.

Installation instructions

Download the hotfix from https://customerportal.solarwinds.com/HotFixes.

  1. As an administrator, log in to the server hosting the SolarWinds NPM polling engine.
  2. Extract the hotfix archive, run SolarWinds-NPM-v12.0-HF1.exe, and follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

The hotfix installation consists of two wizards. At first, the NetPath hotfix wizard runs, followed by the NPM hotfix wizard. If the second wizard does not launch immediately, please wait a moment for the wizard to be extracted and launched.

  3. Complete the Configuration Wizard.
If the wizard does not launch automatically, start it in the SolarWinds Orion program folder (SolarWinds Orion > Configuration and Auto-Discovery > Configuration Wizard).
  4. If you are using agents for probing, restart the agent service on the remote machine manually.
    1. Wait for the plugin to update. This might take up to 5 minutes.
To verify that the update is complete, go to the Manage Agents page in Orion, select More actions > View installed agent plugins. The agent plugin version should be 1.0.30214.0.
    2. Log in to the remote computer with the agent installed, and restart the SolarWinds Agent Service to have the plugin update applied.

Uninstallation of the hotfix

  1. As an administrator, log in to the server hosting the SolarWinds NPM polling engine.
  2. Navigate to Installed Updates, for example via Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates.
