Fixed issues

This hotfix addresses the following issues:

  • Database maintenance for Interface Availability takes more time than expected, the SQL Transaction Log is expanding, and that may result in overloading the SQL Server.
  • Tempdb on SQL server is growing because of Wireless Lazy Upgrade.
  • NetPath plugin shouldn't be deployed automatically because the deployment also includes deploying the prerequisites.
  • NetPath - NCM/NTA Data is not shown in NetPath graphs when the probing node is an additional polling engine.
  • NetPath - NetPath objects with a NetPath-specific status cannot be displayed in Network Atlas maps.
  • NetPath - When you have default gateway in your system settings set to 0.0.0.0, NetPath graphs may not display data.

Environment

  • NPM 12.0.1

Installation with SolarWinds High Availability

Use these instructions to install the hotfix with SolarWinds HA.

The HA pool must be disabled to begin installation. If you install prior to disabling, the pool is automatically disabled.

  1. In the Orion Web Console, click Settings > All Settings > High Availability Deployment Summary.
  2. Select the pool you want to disable.
  3. Toggle High Availability to Off.
  4. Install the hotfix on the primary server in the pool.
  5. Install the hotfix on the secondary server in the pool.
  6. In the Orion Web Console, click Settings > All Settings > High Availability Deployment Summary.
  7. Select the pool you want to enable and toggle High Availability to On.

The Orion Web Console verifies all SolarWinds product versions match across the HA pair before enabling. If you receive errors, check your product versions.

You may need to recreate the HA pool. For details, see Set up an HA pool: http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/kbloader.aspx?kb=MT69712

Installation instructions

Download the hotfix from https://customerportal.solarwinds.com/HotFixes.

  1. As an administrator, log in to the server hosting the SolarWinds NPM polling engine.
  2. Extract the hotfix archive, run SolarWinds-NPM-v12.0.1-HF1.exe, and follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

The hotfix installation consists of two wizards. At first, the NetPath hotfix wizard runs, followed by the NPM hotfix wizard. If the second wizard does not launch immediately, please wait a moment for the wizard to be extracted and launched.

  3. Complete the Configuration Wizard. If the wizard does not launch automatically, start it in the SolarWinds Orion program folder (SolarWinds Orion > Configuration and Auto-Discovery > Configuration Wizard).
  4. If you are using agents for probing, restart the agent service on the remote machine manually.
    1. Wait for the plugin to update. This might take up to 5 minutes. To verify that the update is complete, go to the Manage Agents page in Orion, select More actions > View installed agent plugins. The agent plugin version should be 1.0.31600.
    2. Log in to the remote computer with the agent installed, and restart the SolarWinds Agent Service to have the plugin update applied.
