Overview

This articles shows how to move nodes to the correct polling engine and remove old engine entries with previous IP address.

Why are there 2 primary polling engines in Orion?

There is an incorrect Dual (OLD) primary engine entry which is seen in Orion and the nodes assigned to the old engine entry in the database (Engines table).

You can see the entry where all nodes are still associated to the old engine - Settings > Polling Engines.

Environment

Cause

  • The hostname of the Orion server was changed or has changed.
  • Orion was migrated to another server with a new hostname or IP.
  • The Orion IP address was changed.
  • There was a fresh installation on a new Orion server using the old database with the new IP address assigned to the Orion server.
