Overview

This article addresses missing data in the charts seen nightly between ~23:00 and 02:15 and the following error that occurs:

ERROR SolarWinds.Collector.DBProcessing.DBProcessingWorkerWithAccess - Commit of  - SolarWinds.Interfaces.SNMP failed.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.InterfaceTraffic_Detail_20160512'.'PK_InterfaceTraffic_Detail_20160512' in database 'solarwinds' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

Environment

All NPM versions

Cause

The issue occurs when using SQL Express for the Orion database.

SQL Express has a 10GB database limit and your database has exceeded this limit. The database was getting full at ~23:00 every day. Nightly maintenance cleared out some space (maintenance starts at 2:15 by default). Once there was some space available in the database, data was written to the database and the data was visible in the charts again. The issue repeated each night as the database was getting full.

Resolution

Migrate to the Standard or Enterprise version of SQL. Refer to Migrate the SolarWinds Orion SQL database to a new server.
