Maximum capability of Syslog

Overview

The capability of Orion NPM's syslog including maximum logs that can be received per second and maximum logs that can be stored in the server can handle around 2 million messages per hour. 
You can also store as many Syslog messages in Orion Database as long as you have available disk in the server.

SolarWinds does not recommend to store Syslog messages longer than seven days because of the following:

  • it could fill up the SQL Server Disk
  • it could create huge syslogs size for the Orion DB and can seriously affect the Orion performance.
