Mass-switching nodes to agent polling

Table of contents

Updated

Overview

In some cases, you may want to switch nodes that are not using agent to poll, en masse, to start using said agent; this presumes it is depoyed on those nodes already for some other purpose, like QOE or SAM.

Environment

  • NPM 11.5 and later (including v12)
  • SAM 6.1 and later

Steps

If the nodes to be switched are all using the same current polling method, such as all nodes using wmi, you can go to settings - manage nodes, and select polling method from the menu on the left.

  1. When the list of polling types appears, click wmi. All wmi nodes will show on the right.
  2. Click the top check box to check them all, then click the red link to select nodes that are not seen on the first page of results.
  3. Click Edit Properties at the top; on the properties screen, put a check next to polling method to ungrey it, and then select agent radio button and give it creds, then submit.
